I get a lot of emails from wineries announcing particular tastings or promotions. I don't usually post them here, largely on the grounds that I can't do them all (translation: I'm too lazy). But there's a particularly bizarre event this weekend at Poetic Cellars - pairing doughnuts with wine. And not just sweet wines either; there's a chocolate doughnut paired with a Cabernet Sauvignon. I wonder what Homer would say.

David was born in the industrial North West of England where he developed an interest in traditional cask beers. He became a life member of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, and published several local news sheets and beer guides. In 1995 he moved to Santa Clara, California and gradually discovered the wines of the surrounding areas. He still enjoys a good beer though.
I do welcome trade samples, provided they are in some way relevent to the areas covered by the blog, namely the counties of San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara and San Benito. Relevent means that either the grapes were grown here, the wine was made here or the winery or winemaker has a historical connection to the area. For my mailing address please contact me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Trade samples will be treated as wines that I have purchased; they will typically be opened and consumed over the course of an evening. Efforts will be made to ensure that the wine is tasted and reviewed objectively within a reasonable time from receipt. I do not accept advertising from wineries. Advertising from retailers and other businesses will be considered.
